We welcome Andrew barnett, Lpca, ncc to our practice!
Andrew Barnett is a licensed counselor who has been working with children in the Asheville area as a psychotherapist since 2015. He has worked previously at Access Family Services as a school-based therapist, and is also currently a clinician with OurVoice. He has worked as teacher at Odyssey Community School and in wilderness therapy at SUWS of the Carolinas. Andrew primarily utilizes Child-Centered Play Therapy in his practice, as well as expressive arts and sand tray therapy. His experience includes working with children and teens ages 2-17, covering a wide range of treatment and diagnostic issues including childhood trauma, grief, academic and school performance problems, emotional dysregulation, attachment based issues, and attention deficits.
Andrew is dedicated to helping children accept their feelings, connect to the reality of their lives, and tap into their inherent resilience and desire to be in harmony with themselves and their environment. Andrew’s approach is grounded in helping families grow and change through love and mutual respect, and to help parents and children who either feel like they are in a constant battle in their own homes or who simply desire a deeper or different level of connection and harmony in their family systems.
Andrew attended Western Carolina University for his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, and received his undergraduate degree at Warren Wilson College. Andrew is currently completing his clinical hours with Jillian Kelly, LCSW, RPT toward becoming a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).
